The best places in the Western Cape to have a Picnic

As the Lowveld heads into July, the Month known for it`s cold, the Cape it slowly starting to have a couple of slightly warm days. This has everyone reminiscing about summer and what says summer better than a lovely picnic in Mother Nature. The Western Cape has some of the best picnic spots suitable for either a romantic couple’s picnic or a picnic with the entire family!

Helderberg Nature Reserve

The Helderberg Nature reserve is absolutely breath-taking! You can enjoy a picnic up in the hills and accompany it with a hike. The views are beautiful and the fresh mountain air is just what your lungs need when carrying a picnic basket filled with treats. You can also put your blanket next to a mountain stream and enjoy the background music of cobbling water.

False Bay

False Bay in Cape Town has a number of awesome beaches and to me there are few things as awesome as pairing snacks and the beach! The beach provides beautiful view for adults and enough soft sand to play in for kids of all ages. The two most popular beaches are Muizenberg and the Penguin beach.

Both awesome, the Penguin beach is special though as there are adult and baby penguins around every corner!

As the Cape Townions do tend to pair wine with everything, let`s do the same.

Buitenverwagting wine Estate

This wine estate is open for picnics and should be on the top of the picnic bucket list. The view of the vineyards is amazing. This is enhanced with the stunning Mountain View behind the vineyards. Truly breath-taking. Definitely have a pre-picnic wine tasting, the wine is truly exquisite.

Groot Contantia

This one is another looker. The mountain in front and the vineyards stretched out for miles. The wine and the picnic baskets are delicious!

Happy Picnicing!
