Table Mountain and De Grendel Wine Estate – Cape-Town

Locals in Cape Town do not only adore the impeccable wine, they also enjoy an adventure. Generally the vibe is very outdoorsy in Cape-Town and with such a beautiful “outdoor” you can understand why.

Hiking up Table Mountain

It is safe to say Table Mountain has earned new respect in my eyes. There are a number of ways to get up to Table Mountain. I chose to hike up. It was spectacular, magnificent and literally the3 toughest hike ever. This mountain has absolutely no mercy and the sun also takes its painful revenge. Pack a lot of water. Wear a lot of sunscreen and a hat and if you are not fit take the cable car because you will end up resenting the very jewel of Cape-Town, Table Mountain.

Ps. afterwards you will need wine, and a lot of it.

De Grendel De Grendel wine Estate is stunning estate just outside of Cape Town. The fact that it is so close is super convenient as you can pair it with an activity in the city sue to minimal travel time. The “summer tasting” is currently a very popular tasting at De Grendel and it is quite clear why. The tasting consists of two white wines, a rose (which is our favourite rose yet by the way) and their famous Pinot Noir. The tasting is enjoyed with breadsticks in front of a glass wall looking out on the beautiful mother city and a farm dam where ducks and birds play. It is formal yet so tranquil and comfortable. They got the balance between fine dining and a relaxed atmosphere just right. The servers are incredibly informed and so helpful and friendly. If you buy 12 bottles or more your tasting is free and you get 10% off your meal! Hoe great is that?! The interior of the building is vintage and the smells coming from it is incredibly alluring. The food is to die for. Fine dining at its best. What I also have to mention is the bread that is served before your meal. This is the best bread I have ever had and I almost denied it, luckily the waiter would not take no for an answer. Speaking off the waiter at the restaurant was kind and helpful and even offered to take a picture. This Estate exceeded all of my expectations.
